Why Susan Boyle lost the final of Britains Got Talent

by ash on June 1, 2009

I think the reason why Susan Boyle lost the final of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) was because she chose to do the same song, I dreamed a dream from Les Miserable, she used in the try outs. I’m not sure why she chose the same song, but I can only guess its because of limitations of her vocal range to nail a new song on short notice. Unfortunately, while the show stage was more pristine and she had more makeup, she didn’t deliver the way she did in the try outs. I think the global media attention she has received finally took a toll on her. Although the judges said this performance was better than the first, I disagree and still say her first performance was much better. I think the pressure from media hounding her and beating down her door, calling her names, finally got to her.

Whatever – Susan Boyle is an amazing find of new singing talent, with a totally remarkable and powerful voice. Her recent moderate make-over is just ideal and I hope that she chooses not to change her appearance too much from what it is today – the people just love her exactly as she is.

Pity that “Britain’s Got Talent” doesn’t have separate categories for first prize winners, because she would have won her category as a fabulous singer. Anyway, regardless, her future success is obviously now assured.

Every night I have my “fix” by tuning in to Susan’s video performances on the Internet, so can’t wait for her first CD album – and I hope that there is also a DVD/video album that comes out soon after this. Susan’s recent performances are absolutely the best that I’ve experienced for as long as I can remember – and I’m a senior citizen! Streisand is my favourite female singer but Susan is very closely behind, in my estimation. I simply adore her voice!

My very best wishes for her future success go to this lovely and genuine lady.

Thanks for the input Dawn. I agree that she shouldn’t do too much of a makeover because part of what makes her interesting, in addition to her voice, is the fact that we can all see ourselves in her. An ordinary person doing extraordinary things. Susan Boyle would have definitely won first place if there was a category for just singers. Unfortunately, I think all the media attention she received was ultimately the reason why she didn’t win first place. I think the dance group that won the BGT show are absolutely excellent and deserve the prize, however, Susan is a wonderful talent. I think the idea of separate categories would have worked perfectly.

Whenever I am down or feeling sad, I listen to Susan Boyle’s first performance on BGT and she quickly makes me feel better. I can’t wait to buy her CD and buy it for my friends and family as well. There is no doubt in mind that Susan Boyle will continue to inspire millions and millions of people.
